Get A Tattoo Without Getting a Tattoo
Welcome and thank you for visiting my website and showing interest in my work. Over the years I have done countless portraits of family members and pets on my clients and this is by far the most intimate and special way I get to use my talent and abilities. However, there are many people that want to commemorate a loved family member or pet by owning or gifting a piece of art and not necessarily having it permanently tattooed. I want to be able to extend this part of me for others to be able to get a “tattoo”. As always, thank you for your support!
The Process
The process of creating a tattoo on synthetic skin is exactly the same as the process of doing a real tattoo on human skin. The biggest differences are that you do not have to travel and you can move the tattoo around, or you can even gift it to someone special. A tattoo on synthetic skin takes me exactly the same amount of time that a real tattoo does (if not a bit longer since there is no pain involved and I can perfect it as much as I want). A portrait tattoo typically takes me 6-9 hours to complete. It isn’t an easy task at all, but one I enjoy. The tools used are the same, my machine and needle perforate and make marks on the synthetic skin the same way they would on real skin, which is more or less the same tone as skin (the color of synthetic skin chosen is one that is not too light and not too dark, as to showcase the image the best possible way). the result is a piece of art that has the same striking characteristics of a real tattoo.
These pieces will be shipped unframed. You (or the person you gift this to), will have the opportunity to have this piece matted and framed to display at home. A framer should be able to help you when framing this, and you get to choose your own frame and the size you desire, as well as the size and color of the mat.
Info & Pricing
The tattoo is done on synthetic skin made of silicone. The two options available will be a plaque style or oval shaped canvas. The size of both is 5.5” x 7”. The thickness of the canvas is approximately a quarter of an inch (.25”) thick.
Unfortunately, I am only one person and have to spend as much time on this new product as I do on a real tattoo, making it impossible to take on every project that comes in. To begin this service, I am only taking on 5 projects to familiarize myself with the timeline required to complete multiple portraits. To reflect this learning period, the pricing will be lower than it eventually will be as it adjusts to demand.
Portrait of family member (1 person)
- $550 (Oval or Plaque Shape) (Excludes Shipping)
These will be sized in order to fit and look the best on the canvas. It is best to send in the best possible quality photos in order to maximize your chances of purchasing. Far away photos are almost impossible to use, as the picture is zoomed in to the face, it is far too pixelated and blurry for me to be able to create a high quality portrait. The closer and the better the photograph, the better the art will be. All portraits will be approximately from chest/collar up.
Portrait of pet/animal (1 pet)
- $450 (Oval or Plaque Shape) (Excludes Shipping)
Same requirements apply as stated above. In this case, portraits will also be chest up but having the full body of the pet/animal will be possible if the photograph allows it.
Shipping will be based on location (State/Country). If shipping within US, shipping will range from $7.50-$12. If shipping outside of US I will give you shipping details after we’ve discussed your request.
When your request is accepted, there will be full communication between you and I so we can discuss the photograph I believe will be the best to portray, the size I am making it, and finally the timeline you can expect to receive your artwork.
The following link will take you to the request page where you will be able to enter all of your information, select all options, upload your photos and finally, submit your request. From there, please allow some time for me to review and I will be in contact with you either to move forward with your project, or to discuss different options. Thank you
